THINSY INTERNAL CLOUD

Thinsy Internal Cloud Platform Software

Thinsy Internal Cloud Platform is software that enables QA, IT and Engineering Managers to provide Virtual Machines to their staff. A web based management console to the Virtual Machines is included. Thinsy Software enables you to build your own Virtual Machine service, similar to Amazon EC2. The difference is that you own the software, and it runs on your own hardware. Hence, there is no monthly bill

Thinsy Internal Cloud Platform Components
  1. EnSpeed VM Orchestrator (Virtual Machine Management Server)
  2. EnSpeed VMM with LiveSync (Virtual Machine Monitor a.k.a VM Server Software)
EnSpeed VM Orchestrator (Virtual Machine Management Server) Features
  1. Web based management of Virtual Machines
  2. Multi user capability built in
  3. Different privilege levels for different users
  4. Upload ISO images into the Orchestrator, and use it to create new Virtual Machines
  5. Store Virtual Machine images (Virtual Appliances) in the Orchestrator
  6. Download useful Virtual Appliances directly from the Thinsy website into your Orchestrator
  7. Built in Nagios monitoring of Virtual Machine Servers. Get notification by email of failed servers
EnSpeed VMM (VM Server Software) Features
  1. High Availability Backup for VMs to failover to a secondary VMM should the primary VMM server fail – all without SAN or NAS external storage.
  2. Live Migration of powered up VMs from the primary VMM server to the backup VMM server.
  3. VM Snapshots -- enables full backups, without powering off the VM
  4. Daily Incremental backup of VMs – without powering off the VM.

Getting Started with Thinsy Internal Cloud Platform

Pre-requisites

  1. VM Server Machine(s): One or more standard x86 servers equipped with CPUs that have the Intel VT technology, or AMD Pacifica technology
  2. IP Addresses:
    1. Private IP Address range of 65536 addresses (The suggested range is 10.1.0.0 to 10.1.255.254 with a 255.255.0.0 mask)
    2. Two or three public IP Addresses (you can obtain these later in the process, when you want to make services available to the outside world)

Overview of the installation steps

  1. Download two files. The EnSpeed VMM Plus Orchestrator ISO, and the EnSpeed VMM ISO file
  2. Installing the Orchestrator and VM Server Software on the first Server Machine Burn the VMM Plus Orchestrator ISO onto a CD, boot from this CD, and install on the first VT enabled server machine. This server is now your VM Orchestrator. It also has the capability to run VMs
  3. Installing the EnSpeed VMM VM Server Software on all other Server Machines, and register with the EnSpeed VM Orchestrator This step converts all other server machines to VM Servers that are managed by the Orchestrator created in Step 2 above
